ESCATEC, Lutterworth (Leicestershire), 29 October. ESCATEC has completed a 100 square metre control room at its Lutterworth site for medical and other highly regulated manufacturing. It has real-time temperature and humidity monitoring, ESD-safe flooring and controlled lighting. Electrica, Dukinfield (Greater Manchester), 28 October. Electrica has added a fourth Hanwha SM482 Plus pick-and-place machine to its SMT line, linked in series with an existing one. The company says feeder capacity on the line doubles from 120 to 240 slots, and describes the machine as part of a £1.2m investment in equipment, facilities and people. PHS Electronic Solutions, Chester (Cheshire), 26 October. PHS has published news of Testblox, a modular automated test system from Testblox AB. It uses nearly 40 modules, each about the size of a playing card, that mount directly in the test fixture, and it is aimed at smaller PCB assembly companies with limited floor space.
